Paulding County Jail Roster Overview
The official Paulding County inmate records channel is the Current Inmates portal linked from the Paulding County Sheriff's Office. It is a Zuercher/CentralSquare public roster for people in local custody or matching the selected In Custody On date. The portal is free to search, and inspected public results loaded without a visible login. Sheriff Jason K. Landers' office remains the source for custody confirmation, jail records, and local booking information.
The roster is a current county jail tool, not a statewide corrections database. It covers people held at the Paulding County Jail for pretrial matters, local sentences, warrants, probation violations, court commitments, and selected other-agency holds. A person sentenced to Ohio prison is searched through ODRC. A federal sentenced prisoner is searched through BOP. Immigration detention is searched through ICE ODLS, and release notifications can be set through Ohio VINELink.
Use the Paulding County Inmate Roster
Start with the sheriff-linked roster when the question is current Paulding County Jail custody. A name is helpful, but the system can also return the current list from the default date filter. Over-filtering can hide a match, so begin broad and narrow only after the first search.
- Open the official current inmate portal from the sheriff's Jail Information menu.
- Leave the In Custody On date at the current date for today's roster, or change it if checking another date.
- Enter a name if known. A blank name can return the current custody list.
- Use race, sex, arrest date, or held-for-agency filters only when the first results are too broad.
- Read the row for mugshot, name, race, sex, age, arrest date, and hold reasons.
- Call the jail at (419) 399-2170 when the roster does not resolve custody or a release appears recent.
Paulding County Roster Search Fields
The Paulding County jail roster exposes several search fields and result controls. The visible current columns are narrower than the full data model, so hold-reason text often carries the best charge, bond, warrant, or outside-agency detail.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Text | No | Searches name text; default is blank. |
| Race | Dropdown | No | Options include American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Unknown, and White. |
| Sex | Dropdown | No | Female, Male, or Unknown. |
| Cell Block | Dropdown | No | System labels include PCSO A through G, Booking, Off Site, and VWCC, though inspected rows were blank. |
| Arrest Date | Date | No | Available filter for known arrest dates. |
| Held For Agency | Dropdown | No | Includes Paulding SO, Paulding PD, OSHP, municipal/common pleas commitments, Defiance, Putnam, Van Wert, and other local agencies. |
| In Custody On | Date | No | Default current-date filter for roster status. |
What Paulding Inmate Records Show
A Paulding County inmate record is a roster row rather than a long jail profile. It can still answer the core questions: who is in custody, what booking photo appears, when the arrest was entered, and what hold reason is listed. It does not show full DOB, home address, full police report, complete court history, or every jail file.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Mugshot | A booking image for inspected current inmates. |
| Name | Uppercase last-name-first display. |
| Race and sex | Demographic labels selected from the portal's configured values. |
| Age | Numeric age; the public setup uses age instead of full date of birth. |
| Arrest date | The arrest or hold date when populated. |
| Hold reasons | Charge, warrant, probation violation, bond, sentenced, judge-set, or other-facility language. |
| Release date | A system field; inspected current records had blank release dates. |
When Paulding Records Are Missing
A missing roster result does not always mean no arrest happened. The person may have been released, transferred, booked under a different spelling, held for another agency, or moved to prison after sentencing. For current custody questions, call the Paulding County Jail at (419) 399-2170. For older booking records, jail register entries, booking photos, or records not online, use the sheriff's Records Request process.
The records policy identifies Lt. Matt McDougall as the records-request contact through the sheriff's main number, (419) 399-3791. The policy cites ORC 149.43 and says the office may redact restricted information. A request does not have to be written, and the requester does not have to give identity or intended use, although optional details may help locate the record.
Request wording: Ask for the booking record, jail register entry, booking photo, arrest date, hold reasons, bond information, and release date for the named person.
Paulding Jail vs State Search
County jail records and state prison records answer different questions. The Paulding County Jail roster is for local custody. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Offender Search is for Ohio prison custody, supervision, judicial release, and violators at large. ODRC can be searched by last name, first name, offender number, status, County of Commitment, Residential County for supervision records, and parole-board hearing date.
| Custody Stage | Search Tool | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or local jail sentence | Paulding County current inmate roster | Current county jail custody and local hold reasons. |
| Felony prison sentence or APA supervision | ODRC Offender Search | Ohio prison, released, APA supervision, and violator-at-large records. |
| Federal sentence | BOP inmate locator | Federal prisoners from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | ICE custody and some recent CBP custody over 48 hours. |
| Release alerts | Ohio VINELink | Custody notification, not a full jail profile. |

Booking Process in Paulding County
The sheriff's Corrections page says jail staff perform pre-book health screenings, booking, fingerprinting, photographing, inmate safety and security duties, file maintenance, and booking-record maintenance. After arrest or court commitment, staff create the booking record and enter charge, warrant, bond, sentenced, probation, or outside-agency hold details when available.
Ohio law also requires the sheriff to keep a jail register. ORC 341.02 names the prisoner's name, commitment date and cause, and discharge date and manner as register items. The public roster is a useful front door, but the jail register and booking files may require a public-records request when the person is no longer listed.
The local booking path also explains why one Paulding County inmate record can mention more than one agency. The roster controls include Antwerp Police Department, Grover Hill Police Department, Oakwood Police Department, Paulding Police Department, Payne Police Department, Scott Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Municipal Court Commitment, Common Pleas Commitment, Adult Parole and Probation Authority, and nearby Defiance, Putnam, and Van Wert agencies. A person arrested outside the village of Paulding can still be booked into the county jail when the sheriff is the jail custodian for that hold.
Paulding County Visitation Records
Paulding County uses ICSolutions/The Visitor for video visitation. Visitors register at no cost, then use onsite video terminals or offsite video from a compatible device. The vendor says offsite visits are fee-based and that connectivity problems during offsite visits are not refunded.
| Visit Type | Where or How | Registration | Cost Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Onsite video | Facility visitation center terminals | Required; free registration | Onsite cost not stated in reviewed source. |
| Offsite video | Windows computer, Android device, iPhone, or iPad | Required; test device before scheduling | Fee-based; cost varies by facility. |
| Professional visits | Vendor page includes professionals | Confirm with jail | Attorney rules were not published in reviewed material. |
Paulding Inmate Funds and Phone
The sheriff's Jail Information menu separates the main payment paths. Use Access Corrections for the sheriff-linked commissary/bond path, ICSolutions for prepaid phone and video services, and the sheriff-linked LexisNexis payment path for jail fees or records-request payment when the office identifies that route. Confirm the purpose before paying, because commissary funds, phone funds, records fees, jail fees, and bond are not the same account.
Note: Confirm custody, bond status, and the correct vendor with the jail before sending money or scheduling a visit.
Paulding Sheriff App Access
The official app is Paulding Sheriff's Office (OH). Sheriff Landers' site says the Jail Information features, including current inmates, commissary, prepaid phone services, and visitation scheduling, are available through the app. The Google Play listing and Apple App Store listing describe crime reporting, tip submission, public-safety information, and notifications. The app is not for emergencies.
